The Rapid Action Network (RAN) enables us to respond quickly to emergencies. When a writer is arrested by an oppressive regime or when an imprisoned writer’s situation worsens, International PEN informs all centres belonging to RAN so a strong worldwide protest can be generated immediately.
This saves lives and can mean the difference as to whether writers are mistreated or not.
Please join us if you can. Other people from PEN centres worldwide will be responding to the message. The more the better. The volume of protests is what seems to sway governments.
Action can be taken by post, fax or email.
