Mexican Day of the Dead

Mexican Day of the Dead Events

Liz Niven is staging a Day of the Dead reading - as part of Jonathan Falla's event - at the Bakehouse, Gatehouse of Fleet, Dumfriess and Galloway - at 7.30 pm on Saturday 31st October.

To celebrate The Mexican Day of the Dead various PEN members will stage readings at the Tron, Glasgow, at 8pm on Wednesday 2nd November. This is part of the Tron’s monthly Word Play event. This promises to be a very dramatic event with a mock coffin draped in black, names being read out in Spanish, roses dropped on to the 'coffin' and a reading of Lydia Cacho's speech to UNESCO. All very welcome to attend - with red roses if you have them, but these are not obligatory!

Members of Scottish PEN’s Writers in Prison Committee will be in Edinburgh at 2pm on Tuesday, 15th November - the Day of the Imprisoned Writer. A peaceful demonstration and readings will take place outside the Scottish Parliament. Please come and take part.
