Moving quickly to support threatened writers
Scottish PEN is seeking to expand its RAN work by involving, not just our small Writers in Prison group, but as many members as possible. If you are willing to receive one RAN message per month and respond to it if possible, please contact me. We understand that sometimes you may not be able to act upon the RAN message - you may be on holiday or simply too busy, but if you responded when you were able to, it could make a significant difference to the safety and welfare of another writer. Other people will be responding to the same message too. The more the better. The volume of protest is what seems to sway governments.

The way it works is that we would forward to you by e-mail the details of a case, including the postal address or the fax number or e-mail address to write to. The text of the information you receive is so worded that all you have to do is lift the relevant paragraph out of it. If you reply to this appeal we will then send you further advice about how to write these letters.
PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN AND STRIKE A BLOW FOR FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION.
